3 Mother's Day Cards Using Gilded Leafing

With the new 'Retiring List' now out for everyone to see, I am setting myself the task of using as many of the retiring items as I can.  One of those (which I've had for a while... and never used) is Gilded Leafing.  I had a play yesterday and was really happy with the finished cards.

Country Bouquet

For this card I used the Country Bouquet stamp set along with the Country Bouquet Punch.  The card is super simple in it's design, but has a little luxury feel to it because of the Gilded Leafing.

I started by using the Embossing Buddy to remove all particles that would cause the Heat and Stick Powder to stick to parts of the card that weren't part of the design.  Then, after stamping the 'leaf' stamp with Versamark Ink I sprinkled it with Heat and Stick Powder (also soon to be retired) and heated the powder with the Heat Tool. I found the best way to put the Gilded Leafing on to the card was to pour some into a larger container and then 'dip' the card, face down into the tub of Leafing.  I gently moved it around inside the container to ensure that all the heat and stick powder was covered in Leafing.  Then, using a clean sponge I gently rubbed over the Leafing to brush off the excess, leaving the gold only on the Leaf design on the card.

The next step was to add the flowers to the card, which I did using Fresh Freesia ink.  the smaller hearts were stamped out using Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath before being punched using the Country Bouquet Punch.  The sentiment I used was from the (soon to be retiring also) Perennial Postage Stamp Set.

Petal Park

This one is the most simple of the 3 cards I made. The most notable aspects of this one are that the Leaves were inked in Old Olive only, where the outline was stamped straight from inkpad to card and the fill was inked with Old Olive where I inked the stamp and then stamped it off once onto scrap paper before inking inside the leaf.

The Gilded Leafing was adhered to the card by simply running a line of Tape & Tear along the bottom of the card (using my Grid Paper as a guide) and then dipping the card front in my container of Gilded Leafing, as described above. I then just tidied it up by rubbing it gently with a dry sponge. I used Moody Mauve and Fresh Freesia for my flowers, stamped from the Petal Park stamp set and punched out using the Petal Park Builder Punch. These were then raised on the card using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  Once again, the sentiment was from the Perennial Postage stamp set and the finishing touch was the 3 gold sequins from the Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins.  The full list of products used can be found here.

Love For You

I wasn't sure how this would work, adding Gilded Leafing to the Fresh Freesia flowers from the Love For You stamp set and then cutting them out with the Love For You Dies. I'm happy with how it turned out, and it was actually a lot of fun, making my own background here as well. I used the Versamark Inkpad and Heat & Stick Powder again for the Gilded Leafing on this card, as I described previously.  Still using the Perennial Postage stamp set for the greeting here and finishing the card with the (soon to be retired) Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins.   All the products used for this card can be found here.
