I've always wanted to do everything from scratch. I never wanted a Thermomix because I didn't want it to take away the enjoyment I felt when I cooked. (Also, a Thermomix would struggle to provide a serving big enough for a family of 6). I have always felt that if I 'cut corners' I didn't really 'do the work'. Do you know what I mean?
Well that's how I always felt about the Stampin' Up! Kits. (Until now.) I've bought a few recently and have put them together as the box suggests, and sure, they provide a quick card with low effort, but the satisfaction just hasn't been there for me. Having said that, kits are a fabulous 'would be' card-maker to test out the process of cardmaking to see if it's a hobby they want to invest their time (and money) into.
Well, introducing the "Painted Wishes Kit" my way!
I started by making three cards as suggested by the kit instructions. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy, right?
Then the real fun began. I gathered together all the embellishments and ribbons that I had in the colours that matched the kit, Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Moody Mauve, Petal Pink, Pretty Peacock and Wild Wheat.
This gave me a good selection of products to use that would add some of my own flair.
This one included another layer of Petal Pink Cardstock, Pretty Peacock and Gold Ribbon and Petal Pink Foiled Gems.
This one included some Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer die cut with a Deckled Circle Die, Pretty Peacock and Gold Ribbon, Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon and Petal Pink Ribbon along with Petal Pink Foiled Gems.
This card had an extra sheet of Pretty Peacock Cardstock, some more Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer (behind the sentiment) and Lemon Lime Twist Tinsel Gems. The gold twine here was from the kit.
An extra layer of Wild Wheat cardstock here really made all the difference to this card, with the matching Wild Wheat Ribbon. This card also had another die cut Deckled Circle of Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer and Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems.
This card included some more Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer, Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems and some Petal Pink Ribbon to finish it off.
This one was super simple, with an extra piece of Pretty Peacock cut to sit behind the sentiment. The sequins here were from the kit itself.
